Cindelaras Folklore
The Jenggala Kingdom was led by a king named Raden Putra. He was
accompanied by a benevolent empress and a concubine who was envious and
envious. King Putra and his two wives had lived in a very majestic and peaceful
palace. Until one day the king's concubine planned something bad for the king's
consort. This was done because Raden Putra's concubine wanted to become
empress.
His concubine then conspired with a court healer to carry out the
plan. His concubine pretended to be seriously ill. The palace healer then
immediately summoned the King. After examining the concubine, the healer said
that someone had put poison in the princess's drink. "That person is none
other than His Majesty's consort," said the healer. The king became angry
after listening to the doctor's explanation. He immediately ordered the patih
to throw the empress into the forest and kill her.
The Patih immediately brought the pregnant empress to the middle of
the wilderness. However, the wise governor did not want to kill the empress.
The patih already knew the evil intentions of the king's concubine.
"Princess do not need to worry, I will report to Your Majesty that I have
killed the princess," said the patih. To trick the king, the patih smeared
his sword with the blood of the rabbit he had caught. The king was satisfied
when the patih reported that he had killed the empress.
After several months in the forest, the empress gave birth to a
son. The child was given the name Cindelaras. Cindelaras grew up to be a smart
and handsome boy. Since childhood, he has been friends with forest-dwelling
animals. One day, while playing, an eagle dropped a chicken egg. Cindelaras
then took the egg and intended to incubate it. After 3 weeks, the egg hatched
into a very cute chick. Cindelaras takes care of her chicks diligently. Day by
day the chick grew into a rooster that was dashing and strong. But there is one
strange thing about the chicken. The sound of a rooster's crowing is different
from other chickens. "Kukuruyuk... Tuanku Cindelaras, his house is in the
middle of the jungle, the roof is coconut leaves, his father is Raden Putra...",
the rooster crowed
Cindelaras was amazed to hear the crowing of the rooster and
immediately showed it to his mother. Then, Cindelaras' mother told the origin
of why they had arrived in the forest. Hearing his mother's story, Cindelaras
was determined to go to the palace and expose his concubine's crimes. After
being allowed by his mother, Cindelaras went to the palace accompanied by his
rooster. While on the way there were several people fighting cocks. Cindelaras
was then called by the cock fighters. "Come on, if you dare, fight your
rooster with mine," he challenged. "Okay," replied Cindelaras.
When pitted, it turns out that Cindelaras' rooster is fighting mightily and in
a short time, he can defeat his opponent. After several matches, the Cindelaras
chicken was unbeaten.
News of the greatness of the Cindelaras chicken spread quickly to
the Palace. Raden Putra finally heard the news. Then, Raden Putra ordered his
superiors to invite Cindelaras to the palace. "I face your majesty,"
said Cindelaras politely. "This boy is handsome and intelligent, it seems
he is not a descendant of the common people," thought the king. Cindelaras
chicken is pitted against Raden Putra's chicken on one condition if the
Cindelaras cock loses then he is willing to be beheaded, but if the cock wins
then half of Raden Putra's wealth belongs to Cindelaras.
The two chickens fought bravely. But in a short time, Cindelaras'
rooster managed to subdue the King's rooster. The audience cheered and cheered
Cindelaras and his chicken. "Okay, I admit defeat. I will keep my promise.
But, who are you really, young man?” Asked His Majesty Raden Putra. Cindelaras
immediately bent down as if whispering something to his rooster. It wasn't long
before the rooster sounded. "Kukuruyuk... Tuanku Cindelaras, his house is
in the middle of the jungle, the roof is coconut leaves, his father is Raden
Putra..." the rooster crowed over and over again. Raden Putra was
surprised to hear Cindelaras' rooster crowing. "Is that true?" asked
the king in surprise. "That's right Your Majesty, my name is Cindelaras,
my mother is Your Majesty's consort."
Simultaneously, the patih immediately faced and told all the events
that had happened to the empress. "I have made a mistake," said King
Raden Putra. "I will give my concubine a proper punishment,"
continued the king in anger. Then, Raden Putra's concubine was thrown into the
forest. Raden Putra immediately hugged his son and apologized for his mistake.
After that, Raden Putra and the Hulubalang immediately picked up the empress
into the forest. Finally Raden Putra, the empress, and Cindelaras were able to
gather again. After Raden Putra died, Cindelaras replaced his father. He ruled
his land justly and wisely.
